How Root Canal Infection Starts

It’s no wonder that root canals have a terrible reputation. If you believe all the bad press, you probably think that a root canal’s about the worst procedure you can go through.

What if we told you that having a root canal doesn’t need to be any more stressful or uncomfortable than having a tooth filled? Thanks to advances in root canal therapy, our Alhambra Dentists are usually able to save a severely damaged or decayed tooth in one or two easy appointments.

Inside your tooth is the pulp, which houses nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue that may become infected and inflamed due to severe decay, chips or cracks in the tooth, or other damage. Without treatment, it can cause further pain or lead to an abscess.

Root canals are necessary to treat the inside of the tooth when the pulp becomes infected. When we perform a root canal, we remove the infected pulp, then clean and seal the tooth. We may suggest restoring the tooth with a crown or filling for protection and normal tooth function.

Root Canal Alhambra, CA

Experienced, Compassionate Care

According to the American Association of Endodontists, more than 15 million root canals are performed every year. All this experience has left us with a wealth of information about how to make your root canal treatment more comfortable and efficient.

Dr. Karen Ho and our team have performed hundreds of stress-free root canals. Our team has assisted in many root canal procedures, and we’re sympathetic and sensitive to your concerns. We’ll do everything we can to make sure that you’re completely comfortable during and after your treatment.

Root Canals Save Teeth

If inflammation or infection of the pulp isn’t treated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess. The pain will continue and increase, and we may need to remove the tooth to provide relief.

Saving a natural tooth with a root canal maintains your smile, allows you to eat the foods you love, and limits the need for future dental work. If we find that you need root canal therapy, our doctors will take the time to explain the procedure and answer any questions you might have about your treatment.

Help for Our Anxious Patients

We make every effort to keep you comfortable during your root canal. Our team understands that years of conditioning have probably left you with a pretty low opinion of root canals.

Aside from our gentle approach, Alhambra dentist CA offers oral sedation to help keep you calm during your procedure. We can prescribe a calming medication to be taken before your appointment so you arrive at our office calm and relaxed. Then you can just sit back and relax while we restore your tooth to perfect health.
